Course Description

This course will introduce students to writing poetry, fiction, and creativenon-fiction, to hone students’ creative abilities and provide them with avariety of creative and critical tools that lead to more powerful writing.We will be reading, discussing, and experimenting with writing shortcreative texts and excerpts from longer works with the goal of practising,improvising, and developing an understanding of the creative means andmodes available to creative writers and their potential effects. Together,we will read and write voraciously and widely, experiment and take risks,and cultivate a sense of how critical reading and creative writing arerelated aspects of a creative writer’s practice.
