Introducing VCC’s New Addictions Counselling Skills Micro-Credential

VCC is thrilled to announce the launch of the much-needed micro-credential, Addictions Counselling Skills. The opioid crisis continues to impact countless lives, making the need for skilled addiction care more urgent than ever. The Addictions Counselling Skills micro-credential consists of three modules: Foundations of Trauma and Resiliency Informed Practice, Care Models and Modalities for Addiction Treatment, and Addictions Counselling Skills, and spans 100 hours of training. 

New Cybersecurity Program to be Offered this Winter

Starting January 2025, VCC is pleased to launch a new post-degree diploma program in Cybersecurity governance, risk and compliance.

In addition, there is a special funding opportunity for January 2025. Thanks to support from the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, we are offering a limited number of seats at a significantly reduced (50%) tuition rate. Eligible applicants who meet admission requirements will be accepted at the reduced rate on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Cybersecurity governance, risk and compliance will equip students with essential skills in privacy and security frameworks, risk communication, enterprise IT operations, evolving compliance standards, and business communication.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada established the Council of Newcomers featuring Program Coordinator Cindy Chan and 11 other members. The council will help shape policy and program development to create a more welcoming experience for newcomers.

Networking Technology Administration and Security Students Pass Fortinet Exams

Our Networking Technology Administration and Security program is thrilled to announce that 91 students have successfully passed the Fortinet Certified Fundamentals in Cyber Security and the Fortinet Associate Certificate exams.

VCC participates in announcement to support a StrongerBC

The announcement also marks the launch of the new future skills grant, an initiative from the Province aimed at helping British Columbians quickly get the skills they need to succeed in the jobs of today and the future. The grant waives tuition and program fees for short-term training and provides up to $3,500 per learner.

CS receives funding for three micro-credential development projects

We are excited to share that the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills has awarded VCC Continuing Studies support for the rapid development of three micro-credential projects. Two of the projects build on the 2022 collaboration with DigiBC and the other explores meaningful connections for fashion students to the film industry.
