Course Description

This course explores character performance through body language and facial animation, with believability built through posture, pose, motion, gesture, mannerism, and thinking time. Beginning with pantomime and facial animation, students progress into full performance with dialogue, developing an understanding of how acting and action components combine to create memorable characters through emotional performance. Lip-sync assignments introduce the art of making facial animation believable, including the study of the "eye mask" and how inner force leads to facial expressions and body movement. The course culminates in either a short film or a series of exercises comprising a minimum of 40 seconds of polished character animation.
