Course Description

This course builds on foundational drawing skills, introducing sketchbook techniques for observing and drawing subjects on location, a practice that expands visual vocabulary and refines artistic judgment. Students study animal anatomy and drawing techniques through field trips, developing the ability to capture likeness, gesture, and believability in animal subjects. Facial mechanics are also explored, including head tilts and the movement of the mouth and eyes, to strengthen acting choices in animation. The course concludes with traditional figure drawing labs focused on gesture, silhouette, and form.
