Course Description

Students will learn the historical background leading up to the industry's present state and scale of production. Students will be made aware of animation's unique rich artistic legacy. Significant technical advancements, artistic achievements, and their impact on the industry as we know it today will also be covered.
Various individual films and filmmakers will be studied in detail to provide a context for the principles of character animation, character development, and storytelling. This will result in students developing their animation vocabulary and storytelling terms, which will be demonstrated through the creation of a 15-minute oral presentation.
