Course Description
This course introduces students to visually communicating through the presentation of character posture and pose, leading to storytelling through the creation of sequential images in later courses.Lectures and assignments begin by exploring abstract visual esthetics through space, line, shape, tone, color, silhouette, movement, and rhythm. The use of shape, size, and artistic style are explored in creating dynamic imagery through implied perspective and the artist’s interpretation of subject matter.
Visual implications of the abstract are applied to a character’s posture, balance, and silhouette to create visually powerful and appealing character designs.
Assignments are designed to strengthen awareness of visual implication through composition and understanding the psychology of composition and shape juxtaposition.
