What you will learn
- Prepare comprehensive corporate documentation including articles of incorporation, minutes, and shareholder agreements.
- Maintain corporate records and ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements.
- Apply corporate law principles to business organization and restructuring matters.
- Assist in commercial transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and business sales.
- Conduct corporate searches and due diligence investigations.
- Prepare and file regulatory documents with government agencies.
- Analyze corporate law issues and provide appropriate paralegal support for law firms.
- Apply ethical principles and professional standards specific to corporate practice.
What to expect
This part-time program may be delivered face-to-face, fully online, or in a blended format. Instructional strategies include lecture, group discussion and online forums, assigned readings, practical document preparation activities, and review summaries. Students are expected to engage in applied learning through exercises that simulate real-world paralegal work in a corporate law setting that is applicable to British Columbia and Canada.

- Completion of VCC’s Paralegal Certificate or Paralegal Diploma, or equivalent

Recommended Characteristics
- Respect for the rigidly hierarchical system of authority on which the legal profession is based
- Highly competent legal secretarial skills
