Fashion Program sets up for Park(ing) Day

The VCC Fashion program recreated their sewing lab on Dunsmuir Street at the height of the morning rush hour as part of Park(ing) Day. With a sewing machine, rolling racks, dress forms, and fabric, they invited members of the community to pop in, chat, drape with scrap fabric, and pretend they were sewing their latest collection.

Fashion students, VCC staff, architects, film makers, interior designers, and more came and played, and learned about the fashion program. People on bikes and in cars shouted out their love of the display as they waited for a green light.

Park(ing) day is a global, public, participatory project where people across the world temporarily repurpose curbside parking spaces and convert them into public parks and social spaces to advocate for safer, greener, and more equitable streets for people.
