VCC Fashion donates to PHS Community Services Society

Every year VCC Fashion takes a few days over the holidays to sew products to donate to our neighbours in the Downtown Eastside. It began in 2018 with tote bags stuffed with goodies for residences of the now dismantled Larwill Place, since then students, instructors and alumni have sewn mask, underwear, leggings, adult bibs and wheelchairs.

This year’s 7th annual Holiday Sewing Factory partnered with PHS Community Services Society, a registered charity that provides housing, healthcare, harm reduction and health promotion for some of the most vulnerable and under-served people in Vancouver.

With bright orange fleece donated by FabCycle, the fashion program sewed three boxes full of toques, mitts and scarves. Fashion Program Coordinator Sarah Murray dropped the cozy items off to Kelly Nichol, Fund Development Manager at the PHS headquarters early this year.
