Short or Long, the New Building Management Program Offers Foundational Learning

Building Management at VCC has been renovated. The program retains its mission to help students develop skills in key areas of building management including tenant-relations, basic building maintenance, risk protocols, and cleaning management. Now though, students can start with four courses- Contract Law Built Environment, Interpersonal Communication Building Management, Building Service Management and Building Maintenance and graduate with a Short Certificate.

If digging deeper into the subject matter is appealing, students can take an addition five classes – Finance and Budget Building Management, Intro to Building Operations and Risk Management, Project Management Build Environment, and Sustainable Buildings. The completion of all nine courses will allow students to add the Building Management Certificate to their resumes.

“One of the most exciting parts of the new program is having additional classes that will speak to the latest technology and topics such as climate change and how buildings will be used in the future,” says Building Management instructor Barry Dallas. “While students will be well equipped after the Short Certificate, students that complete the expanded program will have gone far beyond what potential employers will be expecting making them very desirable.”
