VCC's refreshed Event Management Short Certificate

The sign of a good event is that nobody realizes that an event planner was ever hired, as it flows seamlessly from one element to the next. Flawless execution takes a natural aptitude and a level of luck. Most important though is a strong skill set which you can learn in VCC’s freshly launched Event Management Short Certificate.

Through five required courses students will explore wedding planning and event operations. You will learn the skills for successful events including management, budgeting, logistics, and food and beverage. Then complete an additional three courses choosing from two specialty areas: event operations or wedding planning, to receive the Short Certificate.

“Each student is unique so we wanted to create a program that would give students the opportunity to create their own learning path,” explains Program Coordinator Joy Dalla-Tina. “It always includes the five required courses but then students can pick and choose from the two streams customizing their learning. They can do all the courses in one stream or they can register for a combination from both streams. As long as they complete three of the elective courses, they will receive the short certificate. And of course they can always do more courses to keep building their event management tool kit.”

Whether your goal is to work for yourself planning destination weddings or to be employed by a hotel with corporate clients, the refreshed Event Management Short Certificate offers the skills that lead to picture perfect events.

The first class starts September 26 and is open for registration
